I’ve been thinking a lot over the last few days about this enormous, close-knit fandom we have, and all the little inside jokes we share as ARMY. All it takes is one word and we all just *know*. It makes this community of millions feel so small and special.

Remember in January of 2018 when bts was inactive for maybe a week and some random fan made an interactive horror fanfic named the outcast where you could vote about what was gonna happen. It completely took over the fandom and for a while everyone was like “hobi no what if yoongi is gonna die???” Or some shit.
Honestly I am surprised we haven’t started something like that since enlistment

Not really a joke necessarily, but I can imagine a lot of locals being confused at why armys cry over “Then he flings it.”
Can’t share a link so for the uninformed: In one episode of season 1 of In The Soop, the guys decide to make pajeon (Korean green onion pancakes). Jin is cooking it, but Tae wants to try flipping it in the pan. He tries once and it ends in a mess, but he wants to try again. The other members tell him no, but Jin agrees and gets another one ready for him. Jungkook asks, “But what if he flings it?” Jin responds with, “Then he flings it. Won’t you at least let him do that?” A lot of armys consider it an accidentally poignant line about not letting the fear of failure stop you from trying new things.

I miss the chaos of those days … ngl the first one I experienced was so confusing.
this is so recent but during JK’s surprise live performance in new york city last year, he said “NEW YORK, POMICHODAI” and i just was laughing my head off when i heard that in the stream.

BTS o’clock. Not so much a joke as inside info.
Those times when you glance at the time, and it is 6:13, their debut day. My daughter flashes me her phone at BTS o’clock, and she doesn’t have to say anything. We are both instantly thinking of the members.
This is v recent but I think pomichodai is fairly iconic already

The first BTS inside joke that comes to mind is their “I’m sorry for my fault. I bow my head down again.” It’s been cropping up amongst them for years and they let us know that it comes from a rap verse Hobi wrote for evaluations during their trainee years. I guess it really stuck with them. 😂
My favorite fandom inside joke is us clowning on the members for not knowing which album got them their first daesang. For years they’d all attribute it (in speeches and interviews) to Wings and it became a fandom joke to be like “Please! Do they still think they won for Wings?” and joke about someone needing to let them know. (They actually won for HYYH: Young Forever but received the award during the Wings era/promotions so the overlap probably caused some mix ups in their minds 😆)

This one is obscure and just between me and my husband, but we now call hot dogs “hort dogs” because Jin told Jimin that was the proper way to say it in “Englishe”. Jimin replied “I think you’ve been misinformed.” 😆 For some reason, my husband agrees that is hilarious. 😋
Whenever I get to legitimately ask somebody “do you know BTS?” it is a serious high point
