Let’s gooooo!
Hobi wondering if a dance move is even humanly possible is me everytime I see him dance 😂
STILL LIFE!!! My Namseok heart 😭😭😭 Locking works so well on that song, and as always rhe editing is top notch. The effect on the jacket 😭 So good.
Hobi’s excitment visiting the studio is so cute 🥰 And then he goes ahead and talk about the naked vibe of practicing in the shower lmao wtf 🫠
Obligatory interlude: Hoseok is so beautiful and I’m melting on my couch
They look like they have so much fun jamming in the studio.
I love the postprod effects added in the street for the freestyle, the vibe of the kinda old looking location with the very modern neon effects.
Hoseok: mentions Paris. Me: “AAAAAAAH!!!” I’m so normal.
Obligatory interlude 2: Hoseok is so freaking cool. That’s it, nothing to add. I love how everyone says the same about how he never changed after fame. Really cool guy.
And last but not least the choreo for lock / unlock. Loking is such an interesting style, so happy and fun and energetic. One again I love the editing, especially the frames here and there that have a drawing effect. And the air guitar on the riff!! So cool.
And studio footages, he is so hot 🫠
>the naked vibe is the best vibe.
👀
seriously though, great episode. this is such a jhope project!
edit: *rapper’s delight* 🙌🏼
this ep was so good!! so wholesome how they both said hobi is still the same as the first time they met him 😭💜
the still life & lock/unlock choreo 🤩 love that we get to see it being created in the studio, such a vibe!! he seemed so happy and smiley, such a joy to watch him having fun being in his element! as always the way he dances is just something else 🫠❤️🔥🫶🏻
Why am I employed??? Why do I have a job and can’t drop everything to watch this?????
The answer is so I can buy BTS 2025 tickets (and like life) but when I hear the words “Hobi dancing to Still Life” makes me want to drop it all for real.
This documentary is SUCH a treat for the eyes and ears – those amazing dancing sequences, creative edits and cuts, colorful outfits and the bgm of amazing songs, cool beats and Hobi’s laughter 😭 the rewatchability(?) is insane.
I had totally forgotten him mentioning that he danced to a few of the other members’ songs on Suchwita, so “Still life” got me by surprise. That was sooo cool. I feel like I did have a vague idea of all these different genres of street dance, but having them separately in episodes really helps to highlight their differences. Locking seems to be as much fun dancing it as it is watching it, while popping was super cool. I loved the smiles on all of them!
These pro dancers are something else. Boogaloo Kin continues to impress me so much, he’s so creative with his moves. As the episodes go on, we’re slowly getting to have a vague idea of how Hobi’s dance journey went, and his teachers/dancer hyungs. I love how they’re always full of praises for him and seem so fond, and how much fun he has relearning these. I could watch him dance forever. And Lock/Unlock continues to be the boppiest bop!
I’m sure I’ll say this after each episode but OMG the editing and graphics are on point!!! Love when they utilize the walls around them to add graphics to. When he was dancing with Woong on the street and it was flipping between live and animation – amazing.
Lost my mind when Rapper’s Delight started up! I’m hiding in a boardroom at work and was hard not to bust out dancing (a few times during this episode). Cool side story about Rapper’s Delight – RZA highly praises that song because when he was a kid he heard it on the radio and thought “they’re playing the kind of music I make”, it inspired him to continue (representation matters).
As I’m at work it was a bit hard to fully pay attention but I loved the restaurant scene with Hobi, Hak Nam and Woong – love hearing them talk about starting out and coming up. It’s interesting that they brought up the bullying that they faced in the early days – I feel like that was universal within the street dancing world. Break dancers that I knew got harassed a lot … even with music videos being popular, it was still looked down on. Of course there’s the whole side of bullying within the whole dance community … kind of like mc’s harassing each other over lame raps.
Loved seeing Nile at the end – I may have squealed a wee bit as I didn’t expect that.
Loved hearing ‘Still Life’ in this. I scrolled the credits to get all the songs from this episode – will have to check them out.
Also – that hallway that Hobi and Hak Nam were dancing in during the opening, pretty sure that was the location used in ‘Vincenzo’ for his apartment.
I’ll have to watch it again tonight and I’m sure I’ll catch more.
List of songs if anyone is interested: – on the street (solo version) – Hobi – Still Life – Namjoon – Hope World – Hobi – Rapper’s Delight – Sugarhill Gang – Waterfalls – Mind Combined – I Guess That You Don’t Mind – Uptown Funk Empire – Drops (feat. Tom Bailey) – FKJ – lock/unlock – Hobi
*Side note – seeing Woong’s tattoos reminded me that they recently announced that they going to be changing the licensing around tattoo artists in South Korea – they will no longer need a medical license (yay!).*
Edit – oooh yea, the car conversation between Hak Nam and Hobi about Hobi’s MAMA performance. 😊
Also when Hak Nam mentioned that he witnessed Hobi losing his cool in Osaka. That perfectionism can be a killer.
i miss seeing moments where hobi is so overtaken by his own laughter that he drops to the floor 😂 the whole vibe of this episode was just so upbeat and happy, my cheeks hurt from smiling! i giggled every time hobi’s voice went up 3 octaves while meeting someone he admires, first with gucchon in the popping ep and now lock woong in this one. hobi being the biggest, smiliest hypeman when lock woong was dancing at brown has to be one of the most adorable hobi moments i’ve ever seen – that man is made of pure, radiant sunshine.
i find it really cool how we’re being introduced to these legends in the dance world through this series, and learning more about hobi too in the process, and how each of them have shaped hobi to become the dancer and person he is today.
i also really, really liked the choreos we got in this ep for still life (namseok <3), rapper’s delight and lock/unlock. there’s a level of precision and body control that locking takes to hit the beats of a song with controlled strength, balanced with a fluidity in the transition between moves that i find so satisfying to watch. rapper’s delight in particular was a standout to me with each of them showing off their skills, then them coming together and mixing up their moves while still instinctively matching each other vibes.
the SFX editors deserve a major shoutout and a big fat raise for all their work on this series – the editing choices in this ep especially elevate the viewing experience so much by matching and enhancing the funky vibes of the songs and choreo.
edit: his little impromptu hand dance when he was monitoring/listening to lock/unlock in his studio… hobi u r so cool
What a joy to watch! Locking looks like a lot of fun! Watching Hobi rediscovering himself and going back to his roots is really inspiring. Love love the dance covers to Joon’s Still Life, Hobi’s Lock, Unlock, and all of the other songs! I need to look them up.
