I still didn’t understand a thing. What are they apologetic for? Was it not an electric scooter or his license did not get revoked ??

I think this is just the western culture side of my opinion.. but from quick translation I don’t understand the point of this statement. I guess they are coming under fire for terminology they used.. kickboard.. electric scooter.. saddle… it doesn’t seem to make a difference enough to justify a whole additional post (IMO)

And I don’t really understand point #2… more investigations to come from the police? It makes it seem like they left without permission or something… clearly this post was driven by kmedia and what they are saying if HYBE felt they needed a whole new post to defend themselves.

They’re doing damage control. I understand that there trying to keep their image but the type of scooter or whatever he was using isn’t something that should be under a microscope. Like my God is this what it’s like in Korea? We know he was intoxicated when he was on the electric scooter. But we are relieved that he is not hurt and he didn’t hurt anyone.

This makes me nervous. So the case isn’t closed.

they’ve already given him a fine and revoked his license because of his DUI. and sure he was driving an electric scooter with a seat instead of one without – it was determined that he did not cause any harm to others or to property so i don’t see why that level of detail is so important to the case.

and maybe it’s just proper procedure that the police have to follow before they can officially close the case but i don’t really see what else they can charge yoongi for..?

so from my understanding they’re apologizing for saying that they incorrectly described what type of scooter it was (it actually had a seat) and declaring what the full scope of punishment there will be because the police investigation hasn’t been completed yet??? which makes sense honestly, there’s so much paperwork and processing that needs to be done when it comes to a dui. it isn’t all finalized the day of the incident, even if you are a major celebrity. just seems like they’re covering their bases after rushing to make the initial announcement in an attempt to get ahead of the press that didn’t have all the correct information in it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think they are just clarifying why lingering questions. The agency and artist are clearly complying.

So without official translations and without knowing how Korean law compares to US but making an assumption based entirely off US law: my interpretation would be his license is suspended and he likely has to have a hearing and there may be more that he will need to do besides just pay his fine to get his license back.

So the matter isn’t “closed” exactly. But it’s also not catastrophic. It’s… you know… traffic court stuff?

I feel like I need to stay off social media for the next month, this is giving me so much anxiety!!

I think the point of that statement is misinformation being spread by people and everyone lapping it up, they released a detailed statement.

Are there any K-army in this sub? I’m reading many comments saying his service could be extended.. Is this true? I understand he has already paid the fine and has his license revoked.. what is the law for this situation?

I’ll be honest as a yoongi bias, this is not the first thing I wanted to hear from him after months of silence. I’m just glad no one got else hurt. I’m also glad he’s okay (physically).
He did something wrong and faced the appropriate consequences. I’m sure he’s apologetic about his actions and knows how dangerous this could be.

A lot people were not aware how dangerous these electric scooters can be (including me). But as a law student you learn that ignorance of law is not an excuse. I just hope he learns from this and is more careful in the future.

I think this is mainly directed at k-side though??

This is not good. I know folks are like “it’s a kickboard, what’s the big deal” but if the Korean public gets upset enough about it, this could have a really chilling affect on his career and BTS as a whole. We all know scandals can and do regularly derail people there. Him being in the military and drunk driving plus it being on a kickboard which has been a growing problem in Seoul is not good. I don’t think he’ll leave the group or get put in jail or anything crazy like that, but I think underplaying it because it’s not a big deal in the West is not recognizing the cultural differences between countries.

Yeesh I just randomly woke up here to see another untranslated notice and it freaked me out. I’ll wait for more info but it’s definitely making me nervous

When I got in trouble for my bad alcohol decisions in the past, I felt claustrophobic and that everyone knew how badly I fucked up. Though it was private, I felt anytime anyone looked at me somehow they just *knew* and hated me and judged me, rightfully. I deserved to be looked at like a loser. I did a loser thing. It was one of the most humiliating and shameful moments of my life. But mine was private. I cannot fathom the dread and anxiety and shame he must be experiencing. Even after my bad decision and I paid my dues to my community, I picked up where I left off with alcohol because I didn’t know what else to do with my embarrassment and self-loathing. I’m happy to be recovering now, but this very public event is a whole level of scrutiny I would not have been able to survive. If his charges worsen, I hope he can persist and make his reparations.

All this entire discussion is doing is spreading more hate and misinformation. I’m very surprised, as I thought the Armys here would be more empathetic and supportive. But reiterating the hateful narrative spread by Kpop stans is not helping the members at all.

Please refrain from spreading unconfirmed information by the gossip rag koreboo, they constantly spread hateful and wrong information to the general public. The only thing that you should be discussing, if at all, is Yoongis statement. As fans, those are the facts presented to you. You know K-media HATES BTS.

And that is a grown man with a battalion of lawyers at his disposal, he can handle himself. Armys role is to dissipate false info and not spread it. I’m a New Army and it’s sad that I know this and so many don’t.

He apologised and accepted the fine. Unless people want him to magically go back in time and change the event, he can’t do much more. You don’t think he’s already beating himself over this. What do ppl want him to do? Travel all over SK and personally apologised to every single person, heck why stop there make it world wide. Knowing him, if he could, he would.

The way I would crumble if I had to live the life of the Tannies.

All I got to say is that being an idol definitely sucks sometimes. The standards you are held to is ridiculous. It’s domestic and global and some random country/state/province.

Listen, to me, the people who are going hard after him are:

– Not BTS fans to start & will move on when the next SoKo scandal comes along

– Antis who will hate BTS no matter what

– Non-Yoongi solos who hate the other members

– Fans who hold everyone to ridiculous purity and morality standards

All I’m saying is that this too shall pass – those who stay ARMY will be rewarded with easier time getting concert tickets 😆
