I know twitter is toxic but I still wouldn’t know where to get my BTS info if twitter didn’t exist
Twitter armys are so important. Without them there wouldn’t be any streaming and buying parties. Most western chart achievements would’ve not been made without them.
And for fan experience, nothing beats Twitter when it comes to translations and news/ updates. I also love to see the most unhinged reactions when something drops (a teaser, new MV, etc.) because it feels like people post their first thoughts much faster on Twitter than on any other platform and it can be really funny.
The only thing Twitter lacks is a place for (some-what) civil discussions.
I’m on Spoutible. App available on Android and IOS.
Threads? 💀
I don’t know, but I hope that something better will be come soon and take the majority of people who are tired of the muskification of twitter away from there.
There’s some army working to launch a sns app for army by next year. I don’t know how well that will go and how many people will take to it, but I think that’s interesting.
I have a feeling that when the main translators and chart updater people leave Twitter, so will I, and I will go where they go.
I also follow a lot of politics accounts on twitter; most of them have already moved to Threads and Mastodon/fediverse. In my view, major fan accounts need to start making the same transition.
Maybe when Blue Sky social finally launches it will be a good alternative?
Twitter is so important for BTS. I understand Twitter is a toxic place and it’s hard to avoid the drama sometimes, but Twitter Army actually get results.
There are other places Army can connect, but none of them are as effective as Twitter. Ex: in a Facebook group I’m in, I’ll see Twitter Army try to encourage the members to purchase a new release (and Army’s have the funds to pay them back) but usually no one responds. Honestly, anything pertaining to streaming, buying, or voting is met with lukewarm to negative responses. But if it’s a post about how hot one of the members looks or shipper content, there are hundreds of responses. I don’t want to dictate how people enjoy their fandom life at all, I just think that people tend to forget that music is BTS’ main job, so it actually is important to continue to prioritize that.
Twitter is very crucial in maintaining BTS’ success. It sucks to see what is happening to the platform.
I left Twitter already. Ever since Musty dude took over, there’s nothing but fanwars and solo stans on my timeline. I think it’s because his system rewards controversial posts (more impressions, higher up it goes and more recommended). The ugly “X” logo was the last straw. I think I’ll probably stick to reddit or check out Threads. Pretty sad because there’s so much history on Twitter for BTS, I hope they’re archiving it on Threads and elsewhere.
“*The ARMY I know, The BTS you all know; we are strong.*
*We will find a way. We always have.*” RM of BTS[Namjoon’s Message during online concert](https://youtu.be/i3ehyFudg-k)
We follow the translators, easy.
Twitter army carry the entire fandom on their backs. It’ll be really hard to move to another platform if ever twt dies
I’m honestly worried about that too… I hope it all works out in the end 🤞
I was looking for a new text heavy social media app today and couldn’t figure out where to go for organized ARMY communities. Bluesky is invite only. Threads is mobile only. Twitter is a mess. IG is image heavy. Tiktok is being banned all over the place. Mastadon is a slow grower and disjointed (for now). Where do I set up a new social account to stay connected?
Honestly, I am not THAT worried. I mean, sure, it will be difficult for a while during the transition, but I feel like fans will find a way. Humans with a purpose always do. A new tool like Twitter will come up at some point.
There was a time when there wasn’t Twitter or any of these social apps! But look where we are today. So if being back to square one will happen again, I feel like we’ll find a way faster because we already know it’s possible and it has happened before. 🙂
I’m not too worried about the future but my bigger concern actually is… losing the history. If Twitter becomes inaccessible, we will basically lose our archive unless it gets backed up.
The organizing power of Twitter ARMY is unmatched in our fandom history, so it’s a bit daunting to try and envision an alternative after year of building up those numbers/communities. But, if we’re nothing else, we’re resourceful!
Unfortunately, we just can’t rely on Twitter anymore and should make plans. I’m slowly trying to find those big accounts if they’ve transitioned to Threads, etc.
I don’t feel like twitter is going anywhere anytime soon. Elon is just a troll even the tweet limit or whatever it was called didn’t even last a day. He just comes up with random ideas to spook people and get attention . Twitter is essential for not only the fans but the artists as well so I don’t think he would jeopardize that.
