i’m not usually one to complain, but mine was supposed to ship today, except it’s now listed as unavailable. i tried to cancel the order, had to send an email instead of clicking a button, no idea if it worked. once (or i guess if) i get the confirmation i’ll try to get a copy somewhere else. i’m also considering the audio book instead.
eta: so tl;dr, it’s going to be while before i’ll be able to read the book
more: okay i got the audio book and this is perfect for me and my sad attention span. why did it take me so long?

I’m puzzled by the lukewarm reactions. I’m not sure what people exactly were expecting. I think parts of it could’ve gone deeper (and I won’t go into it here, because I know they would’ve gotten in trouble if they said too much), but I’m very glad to see them getting their thoughts into a book, especially with regard to the training period that was so difficult.
I was supposed to order mine but my phone literally broke… Now *I’m* broke coz I needed to get a new phone coz my phone isn’t salvageable, and so I couldn’t afford to buy the book anymore…

I’d seen a couple of the other comments and I am in agreement. I’m a couple chapters in and so far the book hasn’t really told me any new information outside of minor anecdotes. Maybe it’s because I’m a 2017 ARMY, but a lot of it is stuff that we already know about and while the writing style is good and it is a quick read, I feel like it’s just a retelling without a lot of additional input. There’s a few new emotions or details clarified, but not really more information. I’m happy they released the book and I think newer ARMYs will enjoy it, but it’s not quite what I expected. I didn’t expect them to give juicy gossip or private personal information of course, but the way the story is told feels thin. I’ve felt more from some of their docs than the books, but maybe it’s just getting through the first couple chapters
My main annoyance is that things opened with the QR codes should have had closed captions available in multiple languages. It’s not a huge deal but it’s frustrating when they quote the video and you can’t understand the conversations unless you know korean.
