Contains new info about the album, based on BigHit’s press release (article is in English btw, so this is a direct quote, not a translation)
>BigHit Music introduced “Standing Next to You” as a retro-funk song featuring Jungkook’s rhythmical vocals.
>”As the new album ‘Golden’ is based on Jungkook’s ‘golden moment,’ Jungkook put his heart and soul into the production, including personally selecting all the songs to be included in the new album,” the agency said.
>Jngkook sung all the 11 songs in English, it added.
>I’m Korean, but I’d like to be the one and only singer who can cross back and forth between K-POP and pop songs. I’m gonna conquer all genres if I could. I’ll just stick with these two for now and perhaps I could do Latin music later and opera I could also do musicals, and classical singing, I don’t know. Please tune in to my work, I’m gonna get cooler I will follow my own compass, Thank you, love you.
What is retro-funk? Does anyone know any songs I could listen to, just to get an idea of the type of sound?
I saw some translations that said retro-punk and I was like what is they, but retro-funk sounds a whole lot more accurate…and I do like groovy songs so exciting
Didn’t this funk vs. punk translation mistake happen before?? The words must be close in Korean
The only thing that confuses me about the punk slash funk thing is punk (I say this very loosely if we’re talking about Miley Cyrus’s plastic hearts album) is closer to what that the team making the song typically does. But groovy makes more sense with funk. Either way the descriptions never match the song to me lol soooo 🤷♀️
Retro-funk makes a lot more sense than retro-punk *(so many mistranslations floating around)* – not that he couldn’t do punk but that’s, imo, not his thing. Funk seems more in his wheelhouse.
If it’s all-English he must be performing overseas too right?!
I’m excited for this new sound from JK, whether it’s retro funk or punk 😆
