Omg the Spotify album cover!!!!!!!!!
🫶Editing with my first thoughts:
Closer to You – hot vibes. His breathy vocals is a lot. Will need time to recover.
Standing Next To You – I really dig it. I said this on the other thread but I’ve been listening to Jungle a lot these days and it kind of reminds me of that + the obvious tie ins to MJ + Bruno Mars.
Yes or No – kind of reminds me of a 2000s boy pop song. Like Jessie McCartney was my first thought — or like a song in a montage of a teen movie (not in a bad way). A certified bop but I can def tell this is an Ed Sheeran song.
Please don’t change – if I’m comparing to closer to you I prefer this one on the first listen (although I like both!!) I just think the vibes are kind of similar. I think I wish with this one and closer to you there was more substance in between the vibey sound and the chorus.
Hate you – holy helllll when that ending ooohs kick in I’m so invested and here for it.
Somebody – omg his voice at the beginning!! I had to check that there wasn’t a feature!!! This actually is an early fave. It’s kind of that dark pop energy.
Too sad to dance – I need to listen to this one more I think!! Wasn’t my fave at the first pass through but I like his voice and the music.
Shot glass of tears – love this one. I knew I would.
First full album thoughts: really proud of JK! This is a great album. I can’t wait to listen another 100 times 😊
“She got some dangerous hobbies, like chasing after the sun, making me fall in love” OOOH![img](emote|t5_2zqih|21320)it’s hitting hard already
Okay, just barely into the album but already LOVING Closer to You. Such a perfect fit for JK. A And the vibbbbeeesssss
The freaking range- vocals and styles- on Standing Next to You is FUCKING INSANE!!! Get it JK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and deep like DNA!! 💜
Yes or No tickles my brain, like it reminds me of many songs and artists but it’s also still so JK? I approve 😌
I was already expecting to love this album but I’m actually blown away with how good it is?? Only halfway through and Please Don’t Change is sooo good.
Also, does Yes or No give anyone else Jesse McCartney vibes? Here for it lmao
But ok Shot Glass Full of Tears is basically song of the year for me 😭
He sounds SO different on each of the tracks. Incredible.
I have SO many thoughts on the songs, especially SNTY and Yes or No but my fucking _god_, the vulnerability, the raw emotion, the way his voice trembles with emotion on Hate You is so gutting, so beautifully tragic. Jungkook’s ability to imbue emotion into his singing is insanely impressive. He made a ballad emotional not from high notes or some VERY poetically sad lyrics but through the sheer pain in his voice and that’s something I’ve only heard from him.
DAmnnnnnnn his vocals in Hate You?!! Wow. Stunning.
hate you is making me tear up 🥲 his voice is so emotive 😭
I’ll probably have more thoughts to update with later but whoever decided to put Hate You right after Please Don’t Change is actually diabolical. Emotional whiplash.
I’m so proud of himmm😭
hearing jk sing “I called up my pops last night” was not on my bingo card, so cute lol
I’m going to be completely honest and say I held no expectations. I was sure I would like at least some songs, but mainstream pop is not my preferred genre, so I didn’t think it would be a regular album listen, front to back. But fuck if I don’t love almost EVERY SONG. This is SO much more than mainstream pop. Corny song titles aside, I love the funkiness of SNTY, the beats in the DJ features, the *gorgeous* ballads Hate You and SGoT. It’s all so good. 😭
I also admit I was a little tiny smidge disappointed that it was an all English album, only because I adore when he sings in Korean (when all of them do), but I’m super pumped to be able to be able to sing along with these.
Shit, I am SO FREAKING PROUD of our maknae! Stepping outside of your comfort zone with a whole album full of songs in a language that is not your own must be scary, and he blew it out of the water.
The way he sings Hate You is so painfully beautiful! Especially when his voice sounds a bit shaky at the end of some of his lines 😭
Yes or No is such a fun song! Please Don’t Change was so a chill song as well. Somebody is a BOP!! Too Sad to Dance is pretty fun and upbeat lol (I love it!!)
If “Hate You” sounds like the sudden heartbreak, and “Too Sad to Dance” is when you’re in denial and saying it’s fine. “Shot Glass of Tears” is like when you’re in the thick of it after realizing it’s not getting back to the past and the realization feels worse than the heartbreak.
– *Closer* is so vibey! Takes me back to my EDM days in the 2010s for sure. His voice isn’t front and center when I’m listening to the song as a whole but it’s definitely fit for the mood!
– *Standing Next To You* is so grand!!! I don’t think I understood the video concept but when I heard the song by itself it definitely plays like a title track. I’m proud of his command over English because those chorus lyrics are FAST and he sounds so crystal clear. Can’t wait for the dance performances!
– *Yes or No* is my idea of the most suitable track for JK’s voice. It’s cute and playful and romantic and youthful. I love the beats for this one. Definitely one I’ll be playing again and again.
– *Please Don’t Change* is groovy. I’d put it in the same bracket as Closer and I can hear them both in da clubz. I kinda wanna have a dance party and rock out to so many Bangtan pop songs we have accumulated over these past couple of years.
– *Hate You* is probably my favorite. It hits the spot. Omg JK is so emotive!!!! He can make me cry so easily. I love the little vibrato in his voice. Sounds like he’s trembling and feeling the sadness for real.
– *Somebody* brought back low register JK???? And I love it. Almost forgot how wide his vocal range is.
– *Too Sad to Dance* I’d pair this with Yes or No in terms of suiting JK’s voice the best. He definitely shows his charms the best in these types of songs. I like the lively vibe of this even though it’s a sad song.
– *Shot Glass of Tears* omg JK 🙁 why are you so good at sad songs. But the cynical ones especially. I want him to perform this walking down a lonely road that’s cold and rainy.
Ok overall I need more listens but I’m so proud of our main pop boy JK! He dropped a whole English album and gave us range and moods and music and choreo. I can’t believe how far we have all come. I’ll share my honest reservations about it maybe at the 2-week post mark but for tonight I’m just happy and proud. 💜
Shot Glass of Tears… masterpiece.

This whole album is so amazing! I’m so proud of our golden maknae 🥹
Listened from start to finish, including the songs previously released. The flow is perfect. Shot Glass of Tears as the finale gave me goosebumps, it’s so beautiful. This album is perfect.
Okay, I’ve been having a ROUGH week because my dog died on Sunday (thank you to those of you who sent me messages and words of comfort 💜)
I haven’t been keeping up with the lead up to this album and even forgot this was coming out tonight !
I love this album. I admit I was a bit worried about the all western producers and all English songs … I wasn’t a huge fan of 3D and Seven is a fun bop, but I wasn’t sure how the full album would sound.
That said – wow. I love that they have a range of different vibes on this. To me, JK shines the most when his voice can convey intense emotion, and I’m so glad we get that in different tracks here. We also get some really fun dance tracks, too. Overall, I love it and will be listening to it on repeat !!
I’m super excited to see his concert on the 20th, I can’t wait to see these performed. 💜
wow this album is just really gorgeous!! I’ll do my best to write out my feelings!
* Please Don’t Change – is this island funk/club? I like what DJ Snake did to this! I wanna dance and just vibe. This also feels like a sad song
* Hate You – ok this HURTS! all the emotions JK put in this song makes me feel a lot of things. Vocals are really crisp. His voice is so lovely
* Yes or No – vocals are stunning!
* Somebody – so painful and beautiful at the same time. I’m loving this very relaxed beat
* Closer – Wooowwww wooow he sounds SO sexy! Major Lazer did a phenomenal job on this one, too!
* Standing Next to You – Sensual, funky beats! HIS VOCALS!! Those high notes are soooooo pretty! I thought it was gonna be too laidback but I was wrong. I think the tempo is perfect and it gives his voice a chance to shine! I can’t even think of a past JK song with this singing style. AMAZING.
* Too sad to dance – awwwww except the throwing up part haha it is very relatable. It’s like a sad song that is disguised in this cutie happy vibe. My fave so far!
* Shot Glass of Tears – I always thought JK is really good in conveying emotion when he sings and he did a stellar job on this one. It made me feel some kind of pain even if I can’t really think of anything I wanna cry about right this moment. The only unfortunate part of this track is that it is too short and he has me wanting to hear more!
^(to be continued…)
He’ll have the entire venue in tears during Hate You on Nov 20 😭
I’m so shook by how good this is I don’t even have any useful comments yet

Jungkook on the cover of Todays Top Hits and Standing Next to You added at #1 position
Okay I’ve listened the whole way through, and I love the album. Every song shows a different JK and he kills every version. And, aside from the ones already released, I’m particularly obsessed with “Standing Next to You” and “Shot Glass of Tears”.
I love the range of genres represented in this album! His voice is phenomenal. I did not expect to be blown away by Standing Next to You. Hate You really moved me. Somebody is another fave so far.
I really like about half of these songs (the synth-pop bangers) and dislike the others just based on my personal preferences, but it all sounds in-keeping with JK’s influences and role models, and I’m delighted with the title track. 🙂
I hope he gets a lot of success with it! I’ve realised that he’s being incredibly brave, doing a whole album in English and promoting overseas alongside all the native English-speaking pop stars of the world. What K-pop star has done that? It’s so much safer to sing in your native language and promote at home. It’s really awe-inspiring that he’s learnt so much English and is putting himself out there in such a risky way.
My preference is definitely for the beautiful songs he writes himself but I respect his courage and vision, and I hope he blows up <3
This album. What the actual fuck, but on the other hand, why am I surprised? JK BROUGHT IT ALL. All the reasons he is where he is, because this is who he is and what he does.
But still, I just didn’t expect it to be THIS epic. So many styles, genres, the range, the dynamics, the aggression all the way down to the most delicate sounds. It’s just ALL HERE.
Not him making us go through emotional roller coaster with each freakin track. Who hurt this boy?
*sad twerking* to Shot Glass of Tears
i CANNOT stop listening to hate you. he’s breaking my heart. my favourites are hate you, shot glass of tears and somebody. and standing next to you. but the whole album is absolutely amazing. im so in my feelings right now im really vibing with the sad/emo songs 🥹
IM SO PROUD OF HIM 😭 the whole album is just amazing and he did SUCH a good job. he really showed his range and his beautiful vocals, every song is different but so so good. and his english pronunciation is spot on i’m so excited to be able to sing along to all of these. OUR GIANT POPSTAR!!!! <33 im gonna be listening to this non stop 💜
Ok guys to be completely honest, I was slighlty disappointed when I found out the album would be in all English because I knew the direction of the album would be more Western pop sounding (not a bad thing bc I personally love pop music) but I really wanted to see JK do a very KPOP song. HOWEVER, after listening to this album I fully understand why he went with this direction. Jungkook’s vocals are so strong, captivating, and fitting for pop music. It doesn’t matter if it’s English pop, Korean pop, Japanese pop, his voice just fits it all. The genres in this album really reminds me of the music I listened to in college back in 2015-2016 so I am pleasantly surprised. It’s a very solid album and I think there’s lots of fun songs for everyone. **I give it a solid 9.75/10!** This is only the beginning of JK so I’m so excited to see what else he has, go shake up the world our little baby candy pop star <3 (I can not believe JJK1 is finally a reality now, we’ve been waiting so many years!)
Closer to You: His vocals are so mesmerizing in the opening, a club banger, it’s fun
Standing Next To You: She’s MJ-inspired? She screams groovy, she screams funky, she screams major TITLE TRACK DANCE PERFORMANCE, so grand — it’s so addicting!!!!
Say Yes Or No: A very standard American pop song, it’s reminiscent of pop music from like the early 2010s, and I’m a big pop fan so YES I AM SAYING YES JUNGKOOK this song is a YES
Please Don’t Change: That prechorus is quite something, the way his voice builds up, the beat is very DJ Snake. I could vibe to this at the clurb, I’m getting down to this lmao I dig it. The chorus is definitely a bit redundant but makes sense for a DJ Snake, this is going into my EDM playlist!
Hate You: Ok I saw someone on Twitter say what did Camilla Cabello do to Shawn Mendes for him to write this song lmao and yes I agree what’d she do?? Jungkook’s vocals are so HEAVENLY during the chorus omg it’s literally tickling my ears rn. Idk what it feels like to go thru a breakup anymore but yeah I love me a good love ballad ughhh his voice I can not
Somebody: Omg what the hell is this song, I think this might be my favorite out of the more poppy tracks (Closer To You, Please Don’t Change)
Too Sad To Dance: This is a pretty chill pop song, it reminds me a little bit of Jeremy Zucker, Charlie Puth’s music. I’d love to listen to this during the spring time
Shot Glass of Tears: The lyrics are so real lol I prefer Hate You over this, not my favorite but not bad
i’m an unconditional JK supporter but 3D & seven are not completely within my true natural taste… but this album had RANGE that pulled from so many different directions. the way he adapted his vocal quality to fit the distinct vibe of every track made his raw talent shine. it was honestly a no skip album for me and i am so impressed.
