His singing voice reminds me of HYDE/larc en ciel and maybe a few other Japanese singers. I've never heard a song from an English speaker with this quality before and I can't tell if it's a language thing or actually a particular technique.
Does anyone know what I mean?
Is this a type of vocal style with a name? I'd love to read more about it.

Yes, when I first heard it, I thought exactly this! I used to be into jrock for a long time so I definitely thought about Hyde/laruku too.
But I have no explanation or technical understanding of this, sorry!
wow, now it makes sense as to why i got into hyde/laruku now as well!
Idk but I definitely agree. Have you heard the OT7 version of Otsukare? It’s only on YouTube. But he and V sound really good singing in Japanese.
I think a lot of his ballads remind me of anime OST’s! Have you heard his parts in their Japanese song For You? Gorgeous.
I don’t know if there’s a name for it, but I’ve noticed that his singing voice is very clear, bright and well-trained in almost a musical-theatre way? As in, he could rock the male lead in a Disney movie, no problem.
