Waiting (im)patiently for translations, thank you to army who post them, please tell me it’s gonna be okay 💜
It scares me when they post notices without a translation
[removed]
Whats happening??? This is making me anxious
So basically a) sorry b) sorry for not being clear about what he was driving c) sorry d) there’s more investigations to follow even though we thought that was it, d) sorry again?
I still didn’t understand a thing. What are they apologetic for? Was it not an electric scooter or his license did not get revoked ??
this looks like it’s more serious than originally reported if they’re posted notices at almost 1 am. i hope everything turns out ok and I really hope this is something he learns from cause this was such a stupid thing to do
I think this is just the western culture side of my opinion.. but from quick translation I don’t understand the point of this statement. I guess they are coming under fire for terminology they used.. kickboard.. electric scooter.. saddle… it doesn’t seem to make a difference enough to justify a whole additional post (IMO)
And I don’t really understand point #2… more investigations to come from the police? It makes it seem like they left without permission or something… clearly this post was driven by kmedia and what they are saying if HYBE felt they needed a whole new post to defend themselves.
I’m so confused! I thought this was a done deal. License revoked and fined and that was it. And no punishment from the military because he’s a civil servant? (Saw this on Twitter, so dk how true it is). But now it seems like there’s more repercussions to come? And it wasn’t just an electric kickboard? What is happening???
They’re doing damage control. I understand that there trying to keep their image but the type of scooter or whatever he was using isn’t something that should be under a microscope. Like my God is this what it’s like in Korea? We know he was intoxicated when he was on the electric scooter. But we are relieved that he is not hurt and he didn’t hurt anyone.
I thought he paid the fine, and got his licensed revoked. But everything’s under investigation still?
This makes me nervous. So the case isn’t closed.
the mistakes bighit makes regarding their communication are…. astonishing;;;;;
i hope they will hire some competent lawyers or something
edit: you all can downvote, but bighit’s half assed work doesn’t help the gp’s opinion on yoongi at all
they’ve already given him a fine and revoked his license because of his DUI. and sure he was driving an electric scooter with a seat instead of one without – it was determined that he did not cause any harm to others or to property so i don’t see why that level of detail is so important to the case.
and maybe it’s just proper procedure that the police have to follow before they can officially close the case but i don’t really see what else they can charge yoongi for..?
[removed]
so from my understanding they’re apologizing for saying that they incorrectly described what type of scooter it was (it actually had a seat) and declaring what the full scope of punishment there will be because the police investigation hasn’t been completed yet??? which makes sense honestly, there’s so much paperwork and processing that needs to be done when it comes to a dui. it isn’t all finalized the day of the incident, even if you are a major celebrity. just seems like they’re covering their bases after rushing to make the initial announcement in an attempt to get ahead of the press that didn’t have all the correct information in it 🤷🏻♀️
I suppose this is similar to JK’s gender bender and the hundred clarifications given, as the media was running wild back then.
EDIT: I just realized my mistake 😂 this keyboard autocorrector is always playing foul! LOL
I think they are just clarifying why lingering questions. The agency and artist are clearly complying.
Note: I really not a fan of theatrics or sensationalism so think this will help.
It’s sad that his honesty was met with so much criticism. I need to take a break from social media and just hope Yoongi is okay.
So without official translations and without knowing how Korean law compares to US but making an assumption based entirely off US law: my interpretation would be his license is suspended and he likely has to have a hearing and there may be more that he will need to do besides just pay his fine to get his license back.
So the matter isn’t “closed” exactly. But it’s also not catastrophic. It’s… you know… traffic court stuff?
I wish I was Korean so I could better understand how “normal” this is, the translations always sound so harsh to me. I guess they have to publicly acknowledge every inaccuracy or mistake so it’s all above board… but I am like, next we’re gonna get an update that he made a typo filling out a form and a big apology for that. 🙄 I’m sure no one’s kicking Yoongi harder than he is himself right now. Hopefully he is taking this all somewhat in stride because it’s how these things are usually handled/covered in Korea and he knows he’s not the worst person on Earth or anything. 💜
I feel like I need to stay off social media for the next month, this is giving me so much anxiety!!
Why another announcement? Anyway Suga already acknowledged his mistake and I’m grateful for that!
Okay now can someone plz clarify what exactly was the vehicle?😭 What does it look like?
I hope suga is taking responsibility (he already apologized) the legal procedures were done rightfully cause DUI is a serious thing. No matter what and its looking even more serious now💀
ALTHOUGH suga and everyone around him , the company people are taking accountability
I think them saying the case is still open just means that people need to fill out paperwork etc the way they said it just sounds weird but I think they’re just not wanting to make any assumptions.
Like saying that this matter has been dealt with when form 1ab hasn’t been processed so technically not dealt with.
I think the point of that statement is misinformation being spread by people and everyone lapping it up, they released a detailed statement.
Idk, now about the pending police investigation??? 🙃
I happen to be in the middle of listening to Tablo’s podcast and also having flashbacks to strawberry, kalguksu, and “history class was boring” incidents 🤦♀️
Are there any K-army in this sub? I’m reading many comments saying his service could be extended.. Is this true? I understand he has already paid the fine and has his license revoked.. what is the law for this situation?
He fully deserves to feel the consequences of his actions, there is no argument that he did something stupid that could have had much more serious implications, but I feel that being Suga of BTS and during enlistment as a social worker will blow things out of proportion and the whole incident will be analysed ad nauseum.
Hope he learns from this, we are all human and make mistakes, some more publicly than others, it’s good that he was honest about it, but I’m not holding my breath for maturity from the public. He’s not perfect and neither are any of us. Stones in glass buildings and all that.
I’ll be honest as a yoongi bias, this is not the first thing I wanted to hear from him after months of silence. I’m just glad no one got else hurt. I’m also glad he’s okay (physically). He did something wrong and faced the appropriate consequences. I’m sure he’s apologetic about his actions and knows how dangerous this could be.
A lot people were not aware how dangerous these electric scooters can be (including me). But as a law student you learn that ignorance of law is not an excuse. I just hope he learns from this and is more careful in the future.
I think this is mainly directed at k-side though??
(I also hope the next time I hear from him, it’s about something positive 🙃❤️)
This is getting out of hand
I really don’t need more updates on this or need to be posted on every development.
For me this is over. Things will proceed as per the law and I hope a****** don’t use this to gain attention.
I am glad suga is ok and hoping others are there to tell him not to be too hard on himself.
🫤 I hope that the legal side, as well as whatever additional consequences, proceeds quickly since there’s a lot of stuff being spread now. Once again I’m just relieved that no one was injured.
This is not good. I know folks are like “it’s a kickboard, what’s the big deal” but if the Korean public gets upset enough about it, this could have a really chilling affect on his career and BTS as a whole. We all know scandals can and do regularly derail people there. Him being in the military and drunk driving plus it being on a kickboard which has been a growing problem in Seoul is not good. I don’t think he’ll leave the group or get put in jail or anything crazy like that, but I think underplaying it because it’s not a big deal in the West is not recognizing the cultural differences between countries.
Jtbc said it’s foldable so it must be something like this…
Gosh i am stressed but hopefully all will be good.
Yeesh I just randomly woke up here to see another untranslated notice and it freaked me out. I’ll wait for more info but it’s definitely making me nervous
Just for laughs, i never knew we had these many kind of scooters/kickboards 😭
When I got in trouble for my bad alcohol decisions in the past, I felt claustrophobic and that everyone knew how badly I fucked up. Though it was private, I felt anytime anyone looked at me somehow they just *knew* and hated me and judged me, rightfully. I deserved to be looked at like a loser. I did a loser thing. It was one of the most humiliating and shameful moments of my life. But mine was private. I cannot fathom the dread and anxiety and shame he must be experiencing. Even after my bad decision and I paid my dues to my community, I picked up where I left off with alcohol because I didn’t know what else to do with my embarrassment and self-loathing. I’m happy to be recovering now, but this very public event is a whole level of scrutiny I would not have been able to survive. If his charges worsen, I hope he can persist and make his reparations.
this sucks. i don’t even know how to feel
All this entire discussion is doing is spreading more hate and misinformation. I’m very surprised, as I thought the Armys here would be more empathetic and supportive. But reiterating the hateful narrative spread by Kpop stans is not helping the members at all.
Please refrain from spreading unconfirmed information by the gossip rag koreboo, they constantly spread hateful and wrong information to the general public. The only thing that you should be discussing, if at all, is Yoongis statement. As fans, those are the facts presented to you. You know K-media HATES BTS.
And that is a grown man with a battalion of lawyers at his disposal, he can handle himself. Armys role is to dissipate false info and not spread it. I’m a New Army and it’s sad that I know this and so many don’t.
Pl calm down. I feel like there is a lot of doom posting and mass panic. The police won’t just close a case in 24 hrs, this isn’t some illegal parking ticket. I’m not going to cast blame on Yoongi or BH for perhaps being inaccurate about the exact vehicle involved. It seems even the police aren’t sure themselves and are still looking into how it should be classified. BH and Yoongi did the right thing to inform ARMY asap cos i wouldn’t want to hear it first from another news source. It is confusing and the optics aren’t good but let’s just stay calm and wait for the authorities to do their job. It will be alright.
No point fretting about how antis might stir the pot. They will do it even if BTS accidentally step on a snail while walking. We can’t change that. We shouldn’t be contributing to the furor. Let’s be a reasonable fandom – admit that one of our boys have made a mistake, let the process and consequences pan out and continue to support Yoongi as he grows from this. I feel like the collective hysteria from ARMY will just make matters messier and make him feel worse. This will blow over and it will be alright.
He apologised and accepted the fine. Unless people want him to magically go back in time and change the event, he can’t do much more. You don’t think he’s already beating himself over this. What do ppl want him to do? Travel all over SK and personally apologised to every single person, heck why stop there make it world wide. Knowing him, if he could, he would.
The way I would crumble if I had to live the life of the Tannies.
Omg, this makes me so anxious right now…
Like he made a mistake, he didn’t deny it, he apologized, got his license taken away… I thought that’s it, but reading some of the comments here scares me. It’s totally fine if he has to pay a fine for it because it was a mistake but I hope that’s it. I’m so scared right now…
All I got to say is that being an idol definitely sucks sometimes. The standards you are held to is ridiculous. It’s domestic and global and some random country/state/province.
Oof, i definitely do not recommend going through the Korean comments under that JTBC video 🙁 they’re very harsh and attacking him for everything, referencing his lyrics; it’s all very cruel. This is especially heartbreaking knowing how careful Yoongi has been after enlistment, with the heavy scrutiny on idols doing public service especially. All of that effort goes out the window with one mistake. I hope he’s doing okay and staying off social media.
Most of the comments seem to have a huge problem with the Bighit notice calling it a “kickboard” and accusing them of trying to downplay it. I went back and read Yoongi’s post and he called it an electric scooter himself, so it was clearly not a concerted effort from their side to try and mislead people. Reading the comments, I totally understand why this second notice was needed. It looks like things will continue to stay heated for a while, especially until the investigation is concluded and the police issue a report.
Take care, everyone 💜 and take time off yourselves if you have to. It looks like we’re looking at a rough couple of weeks.
Listen, to me, the people who are going hard after him are:
– Not BTS fans to start & will move on when the next SoKo scandal comes along
– Antis who will hate BTS no matter what
– Non-Yoongi solos who hate the other members
– Fans who hold everyone to ridiculous purity and morality standards
All I’m saying is that this too shall pass – those who stay ARMY will be rewarded with easier time getting concert tickets 😆
Waiting (im)patiently for translations, thank you to army who post them, please tell me it’s gonna be okay 💜
